About André Nouyrit

The website of this painter, and more, which I invite you to explore and savor, opens a captivating window onto a pivotal period in the career of this prolific artist.

In this virtual space, one discovers a myriad of creations that testify to the breadth of his talent and his insatiable thirst for exploration.

André Nouyrit, enrolled at the Beaux-arts de Paris in 1959, immersed himself in a universe where academic rigor meets the audacity of modernity, under the benevolent gaze of Edmée Larnaudie. Influenced by the subtle compositions of Balthus and fueled by the cultural buzz of the Louvre, André forged connections with artistic and literary figures such as Joël Kermarec and Vercors, enriching his approach to painting.

Supported by a patron from 1965, he managed to make a living from his art, a waking dream for any painter. His stay in Barcelona in the late sixties infused his work with Mediterranean light and bolder colors, before returning to Cahors where his style blossomed into a controlled abstraction.

In 1977, a fire consumed his studio and his works, a twist of fate that could have ended his passion. However, like a phoenix, André was reborn from the ashes and settled in Aujols, where he resumed painting with renewed fervor. His subsequent creations, oil paintings, are silent witnesses to artistic resilience, expressing a new freedom in gesture and color.

Preferring the intimacy of his studio to the limelight of galleries, André Nouyrit remains a distinct artist, reluctant to make concessions and discreet about his art, choosing a solitary path that makes his collection a personal and sincere exploration of abstraction, a less traveled road that reflects the depth of his experience and the subtlety of his perspective.
